2017 season, preseason injuries ON Empty 2017 season, preseason injuries ON

    Post by chrebet1024

We're thinking for our last season to Sim the preseason with injuries ON.

What better opportunity to try this than right now.  It brings a whole new realistic approach to managing your team.  Let's be honest, we don't even come close to dealing with the injuries that the real league does.  To placebextra importance on the bottom third of the depth chart is angreta thing.  This way if guys sign cheapos to get around the salary cap.....this can come back to bite u in the ass if u get a couple key injuries in key positions.

    What's everybody think?

I think the one season injuries were left on, the injuries pissed everyone off. I understand where your going with depth chart and salary cap. I would say great idea if it guarenteed every owner injuries. But it didn't last time and won't this time. I also would feel differently about it if we played the pre season.(which no one wants to do) I know in my experience way more injuries occur in simmed games. I don't like the fact that last time this happened by accident, some owners got crushed with injuries, while many had none. Yeah, it might be more lifelike.... But it is still a video game. Also in owner mode, if you don't have team funds like many didn't since I rejoined, I think it will cause a lot of roster violations. I will not disagree it has it's pros.... But do they outweigh the cons? In the long run I don't think so. To try for a second time now..(first one accidental I know..) being that it's the last season for M25, go for it! Good time to try. I'm not totally sold on the idea. But the point of the post was to give some feedback...lol This is my 2¢... And that's what it's worth in a league full of great owners like this one.

I'd say its a bad idea for following reasons. People are struggling playing now. I
Had 6 sims from people not showing for gms or not even sching. Giving them injs before they even start the season will make it worse, ESP this late in madden. If u want preseason injs on the preseason gms should be sched and played like reg season. But I wouldn't try that till m15 since its dead time of yr for madden. Just my 2 cents

Love the idea... Makes all 53 roster spots matter. It woul probably keep people from having 4 kickers on their tram to squeeze under the cap

I'll agree with DBE on the activity point.

I'll disagree with jbell on the pissed off point....BC people got pissed off BC that was an mistake and unexpected.

Roster integrity will be called out hard starting tonight.

...also tho on the activity point...I want guys in this league who taoeninjuries as a "challenge," and not get pissed offhand fold and quit BC a few don't go his way. It reveals a lot about the guy if he gets pissed off instead of dealing with it like teams should.

    Like I said. It's worth 2¢.

...of course J_Bell12.  Opinions are what make the league work.

I like the idea of simming with preseason injuries... although I will most likely regret it as I have Denario Alexander as my #2 WR with like 65 injury rating lol.

Does the pre-season SIM play players like actual pre-season? Meaning backups play most? This would likely make the difference for me whether I would be on board or not.

Well here's what we would do.......

We would allow 10 minutes for everybody to order their depth chart they say the want to...BUT you can not take any of your 53 guys completely off the chart.  You must leave everybody on BUT can order it the way u want.

    Then we Sim preseason.

10 mins immediately after the draft?

.....what do you think we should do?

probably do our "Free Agent Frenzy" right after draft ALONG with ordering the depth chart the way you see fit.

We will then have to check up on these depth charts before we SIM.  So we'll make the advance through preseason a "hard" time.

Yep way to many injuries to many teams when we did it last time. Many pissed off people. People at to use their teams not FA bums. I get injuries are part if the game but I really think we are reeling to do new things just so "it's new". We have a good thing going and sometimes over tweaking is not the answer to a better league. This is my opinion only but I watch the reg season injuries pile up on teams up to 6-7 guys. Not sure how putting more guys on the injured list makes any sense.

Interesting... I think Im leaning to injuries off during preseason though. I think injuries during sims are slightly elevated. I could be wrong..

Im more interested in addressing some un-sim tactics during the off season with the league..

Two big ones for me are amount of man press being played, and two man under man press (Unrealistically effective on madden)

Doesn't matter to me. Just in it for some fun. It does give it a more "realistic"feel. Look at the Jon Beason and Sean Lee situations.

    I am cool with it

At this point I would have to say that I would prefer to sim the preseason injuries off like we always have until new madden comes out. At that point I think injuries during preseason would be realistic, but I would like to see it in the form of us actually playing preseason games with injuries on. 1 day advances or something to give us a more authentic offseason and roster cutdown process.... I sometimes think we blaze through the offseason too fast and miss out on some fun with team building.

Allowing depth chart ajustments to hide starters from getting injured, but saying everyone must be on the depth chart? Too much wiggle room for people who manipulate the rules time and time again...

...but here's the thing rafa....how can you regulate what the depth chart SHOULD be?

It's an objective thing to begin with...so no rules can be laid down in the first place.

Here's why we suggest doing the preseason injuries.....at the end of the year...only 50 guys were injured.

    http://daddyleagues.com/MEFL/players?name=&position=all&team=all&injured=1

That's nothing.  And considering a bunch of guys were on auto, I thought it would be much higher.

That comes out to 1.56 players injured per team.

I'd like to see us be more challenged during the course of a season than that.  AND it promotes more parity I believe.  A key injury here and there, and all of a sudden a team that had a gloomy outlook on the season now has instant life.

Simple the depth chart you submit week 1-4 in preseason is your depth chart 1-4 regular season
