| | Just wondering if there's a season going on currently? I had to go on hiatus for a bit due to moving and my internet not being super smooth. It's all fixed now and I was just wondering if I can join up to finish out M15 or what the current status of the league is. Regardless I'd love to be back for 16 and if the league is still going for 15 fill me in!

| | Havent seen this come up in a online game till today. I have seen it in cpu games Not sure who else ever seen it.
When a offense presses x to rush to the line, if any off player touches or bumps a def player while they are going to the line ea calls a encroachment penalty. This happens even before they get to the line so its a cpu glitch.
Would like to see a rule be put in place if that happens the off can not accept the pent. A bit unfair taking a free 5 yards on something not even in the play and uncontrolled from anyone.
This is rare, ive had it happen maybe...

| | Please review this player. my understanding is a 3-4 OLB can be put in 4-3 DE position in depth chart, does this player qualify?
Hes a OLB 6'0 236 pounds to me im old school, thats a 4-3 OLB, Dont know of any full time OLB that size in the NFL, maybe a situation once in a blue moon. Even the small height DEs are usually 250+ pounds.
what does everyone else feel about a player with that size being lined up at DE all game? Just wondering what others think as well.

| | After some quiet reflection, the Giants have decided that the punishment imparted upon them for the accidental violation of a nonsensical rule is, in fact, too light. Therefore, the following players are being suspended for 10 weeks... Landry Jones LeGarette Blount The entire wr depth chart will be reversed Adrien Robinson Will Beatty Gary Schwartz Brandon Mosely Cliff Avril Pat Sims Jonathin Hankins Erin Henderson The entire cb depth chart will be reversed Antrel Rolle
The giants feel this self imposed punishment almost...

| | Found at the bottom of this post is our Pass Rush Rules.
There has been a lot of discussion on chat about this, so just wanted to bring onto the forum to get some feedback.
My feeling is this....If you take away the ability to manually adjust EDGE GUYS (4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB) and allow guys to user control them in pass coverage, then you MUST cover ALL AREAS.
Let me explain....if you only make the rule "not allowed to adjust or user coverage DT or DE's" then the teams that run the 3-4 get an unfair advantage.
Their packages: 3-4, 1-3-7, 2-4-5,...

| | Ok, so every year the same guys are good. What's the reason? Well they're smart...they out think you...and they know things others don't because they put in the time and effort.
The reason I took penalty sliders away is this: the OLINE is once again very EASY to manipulate like in M13. M25 got a little better with OLine manipulation. It could be done, but was far easier to do in M13.
Now, with the addition of the "Universal QB Contain" (which today was the first time I even realized was there...YES I'm a little late to the Madden party this year)....."SIM...

| | So we obviously know how gameplay is know with this game. Players are smarter and there's no doubt about it, the difficulty has been raised across the board.
It is now the ultimate "Strategy" game...and really is amazing how realistic it is.
Remember this...you cannot FORCE THINGS IN THIS GAME. If the defense is prepared to stop the run (8 in the box), then it's gonna be hard to run it. If they come out in a 4 deep look, then it's gonna be tough to pass it over the top.
TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES YOU.
You CAN beat 3 Deep over the top. Don't think...

| | ...we will use this thread to discuss sliders during season 1...as they will be a work in progress all season, setting us up for the remaining seasons.

| | Philly / Arizona Box ScoreSlick and RX....what happened here? Why so many points? ...turnovers?
|
| | We all know strategy comes down to taking what your opportunity nent isngiveing you....and playing based on your personnel strengths.
Something else that comes into play (and there's no denying it)..is playing towards the weaknesses of the game. NFL teams do the same thing as play shifts towards weaknesses in the rules....for example it has become a pass happy league BC of the rules.
The question is...do some guys too far with it? There have been many discussions about this recently.
Despite strategy taking place in the above circumstances...we STILL do have a...

| | This thread will be an ongoing thread for the rest of M25.
When you play an opponent and you want to throw a name out there of a guy who does a good job OR bad job as it pertains to mixing up running tendencies....then post it here.
Start getting used to talking about gameplay on the website...BC mandatory scouting reports could be in our future very soon.

| | Ok so my AFC champ game gets disconnected late in 4th but I would have lost. So I told ravens to play CPU which again 42-45 points max and def not to be scoring in 4th. Right?
He put up 59 on CPU, 31 points in the 4th, 629 yards offense, 6 Tds with flacco. 4 restarts as well
If this was me me zee, I'd be in major trouble. Better yet if this gets swept under rug it def opens up us to go off on CPU. 59!!!
Really we allow this. If so my bad for noticing but holy crap.
|
| | Here's the scene.
Score is (if I remember correctly) 34-24 Ravens. My defense not doing much vs. his offense.
I score with 3:48 left and 2 timeouts to make the score 34-31.
Now I wanted to onside kick it due to the poor play from my d. I can concede a FG and still be happy. Odds are he'll take less time off the clock.
Should I be able to go for the onside? According to the rules I couldn't - so I didn't.
He went on to bust a long run and the game is history. Regardless, interested to just hear thoughts.

| | I want to bring up a discussion about the pistol formation. What is the limit or is there even a limit on this formation? For example, I played the Eagles this week in default, and i would say 70-80 percent of plays were from the pistol. I don't know if this is good or bad as I don't know what the rules about this are. However, I know he has Tim Tebow and I was expecting a more pistol oriented offense, but I got a lot more pistol than I expected. Also got quite a bit of read option...probably around 10 read option plays as well, and I was expecting a few of those but not that many either. There...

|
| | ...first off....forget about anything you knew about what Sim play is. So many leagues get it wring and define it wrong. They believe in randomly mixing up plays for the sake of doing it. That's ridiculous.
Sim play is strategy. What is the point of randomly mixing up plays when there is no strategy behind it?
If you're playing somebody that likes to use the pistol formation almost every play....what ya gonna do?
Are u gonna feel sorry for yourself? Are u gonna cry at night feeling this is a huge injustice? ....and then bitch on the chat afterwards?

| | Hey all,
During a game against Helldawg66 last night, I was trailing 24-10 with 20 seconds left in the half and the clock running. He had all three of his timeouts and I had one. I had the ball on my own 49 yard line with a 4th & 20 play coming up.
I saw he was running the clock out to let us go to halftime, but as a snap decision, I decide to call timeout with three seconds left and go for the Hail Mary. I completed the pass but was tackled at his 5-yard line.
It got me thinking...was that a non-SIM play? I know he did because he texted me saying I shouldn't...
|
| | OK so let's go over a popular madden scenario.....throwing to the TEs too much.
So if the offense has a tendency to throw to his TEs too much....what happens?
(Now in not talking about the online ranked guy that plays like crap and cheeses throws to the TEs....I'm talking about a guy who does mix it up but has a tendency to the TE).....as it pertains to the 2nd second guy...some guys who take SIM too far feel that a tendency like that is UNSIM.
I say this.....
Defense....it is up to YOU to stop that tendency....u must stop that tendency and make him...

| | by Zeemen Just want to give a thanks to the default and fantasy MEFL leagues. I have been been playing 4 years now in online leagues and hands down these two are the best I've ever played in.
I was in MXL and MXLF for years and both were great but what sepertates MEFL is that you feel part of a season not just what your team does. With the write ups and posts, the off season activity, and the brotherhood, these two league sepertate themselves from others. I was trying to find a third league to play in and either the website is bland or they don't have 32 owners or not very active....

| | So when games are in the state of a blowout....and winning is out of reach, is what this discussion is about.
First of all, a lot of guys don't ever want to think the score is ever out of reach...but that's not true. When you're losing bad, sometimes the best thing to do is realize it and capitalize on OTHER opportunities you have.
While the winning team is running the ball trying to kill the clock....we sometimes see the losing team THROWING EVERY DOWN.
NOT GOOD...and ONLY in the case of a crazy blowout this is not good.
Think about it...when do injuries...
|
| | So 3:59 at own 29 down 3 are u allowed to go. From the rules I read and understand u have to punt
|
| | So, last season there was alot said about running backs and Tight ends leading teams in receptions. I believe str8 made an entire post and called out some people including myself for such things.
Now this season there are running backs with 30 catches through 6 games. With the top WR at something near 10 receptions. That is not spreading the ball around guys. Spreading the ball around is having 5 or 6 guys with 10 catches each or something to that effect.
|
| | So especially with the past two games (m13 and m25)....the feeling is that man works better than zone.
So we preach to mix up coverages....and you should. But realize this guys...with football strategy if an offenses struggles mightily against man and does great against zone....why should the defense play 50/50 man and zone just bc some guys think thats the way sim leagues are supposed to be?
Yes mix up coverages.....BUT at the same time football strategy and the momentum of the game dictates what's going to be called more.
Instead of thinking about the defense...

| | If anybody has seen these things....or know what they are....or want to contribute their opinion about these things....PLEASE add to this.
A couple things I (and a few others) have seen that they wanted to bring up to the league:
1. DLINE Diving at snap --I noticed it once as a Dlineman dove at my QB and got him to the ground before he could even hand the ball of to the RB on a run play. I don't know if it was a user dive or a cpu dive but it did happen. It's not something I've seen much of so I didn't think much of it. Has anybody seen this?
2. Kick...
|
| | ...was discussing this with zeemen earlier and wanted to throw it out there to the league to see what guys think about this topic.
The QUICK SNAP.
A lot of guys do it, they prefer it instead of taking their time at the line of scrimmage. It's an obvious strategy that hopes to NOT allow the defense to make all their adjustments and get ready for that play.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? Do you think this is an UN-SIM practice?
.....me personally I don't do it much. Sometimes I'll do it on a short yardage run play....but I prefer to hot route my offense or...
