Ozzie Newsome released a statement on behalf of the Ravens organization Tuesday.
"We the Ravens organization as a whole do not condone domestic violence. When we saw the video of Ray yesterday we were absolutely disgusted by his actions. It was with this in mind that Steve (Biscotti), John (Harbaugh), sat down in a meeting immediately. After this meeting, which was a short meeting we had decided to sit down with Ray and discuss his future as a Baltimore Raven. After sitting down and having a long discussion with Ray about everything, we have decided to keep him on the roster at this time. Some of the factors that went into the decision were the fact that Janay still chose to marry him after the incident and they are working on their relationship and that he was already punished by the league. However in light of the new evidence brought to our attention we have a conditional agreement with Ray in regard to keeping him on the team beginning with a stint in rehab for his anger management. From there he will see an anger management specialist once a week and will monitor his progress. We just want to help Ray the best we can and will support him in his quest for redemption.
In regards to further punishment we have spoken with the league and in conjunction with the law he will not be punished to any further degree from the league, as Double Jeopardy comes into play."
There you have it everybody a day after the video of Ray Rice knocking out his wife then fiance Janay Palmer surfaced, the Ravens have decided to keep him on the roster. While there was wide speculation around the league that Ray Rice would be released today, it seems at least for now he will remain a Raven.
