Frustrating Start

The Chiefs opened the season at home against the Green Bay Packers looking to start off the season with a win. However the game didn't go as planned for second year coach Roy Harris. It was a hard fought game for both teams that came down to the wire. Despite throwing 2 interceptions early in the game Alex Smith and the Chiefs had the ball in a tie game with under 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Jamal Charles had some nice runs that put them in FG range, however with the wind blowing in at 8 mph, the ball hit the crossbar and didn't go through. That gave Green Bay good starting field position, and back up quarter back Ponder was able to lead them down field for a game winning field goal. Rodgers wasn't the only injured player on the day, KC's 1st round draft pick OLB Bennett Poole broke his collar bone early in the game and will miss at least 7 weeks according to Chiefs doctors. After the game coach Harris said "we had a few missed opportunities that cost us the game. Are new WR's dropped some passes that should have been caught, and that missed field goal killed us. However our defense needs to step up in situations like that and get a stop and they didn't." Obviously starting out the season on a sour note, the Chiefs look to move on and get things worked out by next week when the Colts come to town.

Great write up.
I had Ponder start half the season for me last year. Dude is getting some serious field time ahah
