The Chiefs opened the season at home against the Green Bay Packers looking to start off the season with a win. However the game didn't go as planned for second year coach Roy Harris. It was a hard fought game for both teams that came down to the wire. Despite being on the road and playing in blizzard like conditions, Alex Smith played "ok" according to coach Harris. It was the second game for Smith under coach Harris, and a lot was expected out of him. Overall he played well in the blizzard conditions that made it almost impossible to hold on to the ball. As a new coach takes over in KC this week his main goal was to limit the turnovers by quarterback Alex Smith. Before starting this weeks game against the Raiders, Smith already had 21 interceptions on the season. However, this week was no different for Smith as he threw 4 interceptions and only one touchdown against the Raiders. The one bright spot for the chiefs this week was the running game. With the Broncos losing their second in a row, chiefs had a golden chance to take sole possession of first place in the AFC West. JC and company started off fast and opened up an early lead but the niners stayed in striking distance. Late in the fourth, niners get a stop and then march the ball all the way down the field. Chiefs start the season with an impressive win over the Titans. The previously unwanted Derrin Johnson roared to 3 int's which helped secure a nice lead. The Chiefs d got a few sacks but the player of the evening was Jamaal Charles posting a 161 yards and 5 td's. Coach Ried releases a statement following fan chatter on twitter involving the Chiefs outlook.
"Look we all know this is a great team, the fact that the regular season blowouts happen proves that. Problem is that we have not played well in the playoffs and that has to change. I assure you all that it will most likely come down to us and big mouth Ryan's Jets. Start of the season the Kansas City Chiefs open up with a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The jaguars fought really hard throughout the whole game with a limited roster but it proved not enough against the stacked Kansas City team that came ready to play.
Qb Alex Smith threw for 344, 4 Tds and 0 picks leading the offense to scores with 5 different players. The jags have two scary wrs in Blackmon and Shorts. They both showed signs of being stars in this league. MJD was held to under 35 yards rushing and looked like he didn't want to be a Jag anymore.
